TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Utah State athletic director Randy Spetman has been named to take over the troubled program at Florida State.
Spetman will replace interim athletic director Bill Proctor, who took over several weeks ago after the school bought out the final 13 months of Dave Hart Junior's contract.
Florida State's major programs, football, basketball and baseball, have not lived up to its fans expectations in recent years while only its track and women's soccer programs have flourished. Several of those were hit by the academic cheating scandal that will keep up to a dozen key players out of Florida State's first three football games in September.
The school is finishing a report on the cheating in a music history course that occurred nearly a year ago and has led to a realignment of the athletic department and the academic advisory arm of the program.
