Greensboro, N.C. – The ACC announced the Seminoles 2008 schedule on Friday. Florida State will play seven games on Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium and also play in Jacksonville once again. The home portion of the schedule is highlighted by visits from reigning ACC Champion Virginia Tech, ACC Atlantic Division Champion Boston College, 2006 ACC Champion Wake Forest and in-state rival Florida.

“I think it is a good schedule,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “We gave up the Labor Day game this year but it is nice to get back to playing at home with seven games on our own field this season. Then we play Colorado in Jacksonville, which is a great Seminole environment.”

The Seminoles will open the 2008 season with three straight home games and the first five FSU games will all be played in the state of Florida. The first time Florida State will leave its home state is October 16 when the Seminoles travel to Raleigh, NC to take on the Wolfpack on a Thursday night. For the first time since 2002 the Seminoles will play Georgia Tech in Atlanta, which begins a stretch of five games in the month of November.

“I always felt like when we got into the ACC the two teams that would become natural rivals would be Clemson and Georgia Tech because they are so close and this year we play both of them,” said Bowden.

For the first time since 1985 Florida State will play Western Carolina when the Seminoles open their season September 6 versus the Catamounts. The next week FSU will see another opponent it has not played in a couple decades when Chattanooga returns to Tallahassee for the first time since 1984. The ACC slate begins September 20 when Jim Grobe brings his Demon Deacons to Doak Campbell Stadium.

September 27 marks FSU’s return to Jacksonville where the team defeated Alabama last year in front of a crowd that was the largest-ever at Jacksonville’s Municipal Stadium at the time. The next week FSU will travel to Miami to play the Hurricanes in Dolphin Stadium for the second time in school history. The last time the teams met in that stadium was in the 2004 Orange Bowl. October 11 is an off-week for FSU before they head to NC State for a Thursday night game. The defending ACC Champion Hokies come to Tallahassee October 25. It is the first trip to Tallahassee for Virginia Tech since 1990.

The Seminoles close out the regular season with five games in November. The month begins with a November 1 trip to Atlanta. Clemson comes to Tallahassee November 8 and then Boston College visits the next week. The final rod trip will be to Maryland November 22 before the regular season concludes with Florida at home November 29.

Both individual game tickets and season tickets will be available starting Friday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Seminole Ticket Office on-line at Seminoles.com, the official athletic website for Florida State University.
