Tallahassee, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Florida State baseball team is just over a week away from opening the 2008 campaign but you won't have to wait that long to see this year's squad. Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2008 Seminoles at Baseball Fan Day this Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Fans are welcome to come out to Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium and meet the 2008 squad. The players and coaches will be on hand to sign autographs until 12 noon while the bat girls will be in attendance handing out free posters and schedule cards. Following the autograph session, the team will take batting practice and then play an intra-squad scrimmage. The scrimmage is scheduled to start at around, but no later than 1:00 p.m.
The scrimmage will cover five and a half innings and is open to the public. Scheduled to throw on Saturday are Elih Villanueva, Bo O’Dell, Ben Francis and Trent Jarvis. Villanueva, a junior college transfer from Miami-Dade, will throw five innings with O’Dell tossing three and Francis, a JUCO transfer from Gulf Coast, will throw two innings. Jarvis will wrap-up the scrimmage with an inning of work.
The Seminoles will open the season on Friday, February 22 at 4:00 pm as they host the Duquesne Dukes for three games.
