Super Regional Play Opens Friday, June 8

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NCAA announced on Monday, June 4 the dates and times for the eight Super Regionals sites for the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship.

Florida State will host Stanford in a best-of-three game series beginning Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. Game two is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 and game three on Sunday, June 10 is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. All three games will be televised live on ESPN2 HD.

The Seminoles, who earned the No. 3 overall national seed and an at-large bid out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, swept through the Tallahassee Regional with two wins over Samford and a victory over UAB.

Stanford also went undefeated in the Palo Alto Regional after defeating Fresno State in the opening round and beating Pepperdine twice. The Cardinal earned an at-large bid out of the Pac-12 Conference.

Florida State is making its fifth straight Super Regional appearance and 12th overall. The Seminoles have posted an overall record of 170-111 in NCAA Tournament play including a record of 11-17 in Super Regional action. FSU is serving as a Super Regional host for the ninth time in school history.

These two schools last met in an elimination game at the College World Series in 2008 with the Cardinal defeating the Seminoles 16-5. The all-time series is tied at 9-9, while FSU holds a narrow advantage at home posting a 4-3 mark against Stanford.

The last time Stanford traveled to Tallahassee was back in 2002 when the Cardinal took 2-of-3 from Florida State. FSU is 4-2 all-time against Stanford in NCAA Tournament play.

Saturday, June 9, 2012
Game 2: Florida State vs. Stanford – 6:00 p.m. (ESPN2 HD)

Sunday, June 10, 2012
Game 3: Florida State vs. Stanford (if necessary) – 7:00 p.m. (ESPN2 HD)

Tickets information for the Tallahassee Super Regional is as follows:
Tournament passes are $40.00 for reserved seats and $30.00 for general admission seats. These are good for every game of the tournament.

All-Tournament Books for the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tallahassee Super Regional are now on sale via the Internet at www.seminoles.com. Tickets will also be available by phone at 888-FSU-Nole and at the Seminole Athletics Ticket Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 5.

Youth under 18 and FSU students that present their school ID can also purchase single-game tickets for $9. Those tickets will not be available until the day before the first game of the Super Regional.
