Marcus Ball, a sophomore linebacker has asked to be released from his football scholarship at FSU, and the Seminoles have agreed.
Ball, a Stone Mountain, Georgia native, struggled though injuries and off-the-field distractions last season with the Noles. He still tallied a career high 24 unassisted tackles, and was expected to play a large role in the upcoming season with junior Geno Hayes drafted into the NFL.
Ball was a big prospect coming out of high school, listed as the 37th top player in the nation according to Rivals.com.
The loss of Ball should open up more playing opportunities for freshman phenom Nigel Bradham, out of Wakulla High School, as well as red shirt freshman Jamar Jackson.
