NCAA Hands Down Punishment to FAMU

All things considered, it could have been much worse. Still, the NCAA's punishment will sting.

The school will be on four years of probation ending in 2010. The football program will lose 14 scholarships over that time.

Additionally, FAMU will lose 30 scholarships in 11 other sports. The school was charged with lack of institutional control that said FAMU will not be banned from post season play.

Moreover, former football coach Billy Joe was cleared of all wrongdoing by the NCAA. He has already filed suit against the school.
