Sprinter Walter Dix proudly wore the FSU uniform earlier this month at the Olympic Trials. Now that he's made the team, everyone is trying to get him on their side. Dix is headed to Beijing to represent Team USA in the 100 meters and the 200 meters. But the real question is which pro team could he represent in the future?...
His reluctance to sign a deal prior to the trials has given him the ultimate leverage in brokering a deal for big time money... However he still remains without a contract, but that might change as early as Sunday afternoon. Dix is slated to attend a press conference in Fort Lauderdale to announce his choice. Nike & Reebok are the obvious suitors, but our inside source says it'll be with "FILA"... It's only natural that Dix has been getting the red carpet treatment since winning in Oregon.
"It's been a surreal experience." Walter Dix said during a press conference earlier in the week.
The biggest American competition for Walter Dix in both the 100 & 200 meters is Tyson Gay. Gay, who was named Track & Field male athlete of the year, suffered a setback last week after falling from a "severe cramp in his left hamstring"... As a result, Gay failed to qualify for the Olympics in the 200meter event. Yet, Gay & Dix are still slated to represent the U.S. in the 100meters.
It's should also be noted that Jamaica's world record sprinter Asafa Powell pulled out of a race this week with a groin injury. The Olympic odds are getting much better for FSU's speedster.
