Florida-Georgia Border War Draws Standing Room Only Crowd

Many of the area's top studs are competing in "invite-only" all-star games this weekend... 2 Godby Cougars (Willie Downs and Corey Gaines) will suit up in Saturday's Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

Then Madison County's Jacobbi McDaniel and Lowndes County's Greg Reid headline a group invited to Sunday's Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, Florida...

Then, there's what we've been previewing all week long-- The Inaugural Border War All-Star Game in Thomasville.

That matchup between top seniors from North Florida and South Georgia kicks off Saturday afternoon, 2pm at Thomas County Stadium...

However Friday night in the Rose City, players, fans, coaches, scouts, and organizers for the big game held a banquet to honor the athletes...

All players on both teams were given awards and former Thomas County Central runningback Joe Burns was the keynote speaker.

"We ran out of room tonight here at the Plaze restaurant in Thomasville. It's just been an overwhelming response to the people we've had this week, who want to come out and see the game and the kids, the way they performed, their hard effort that they've done this week, it's just been great," said "The Zone" Regional Director Bobby Latmore.
