No. 24 Florida State Women’s Tennis Falls To No. 6 Miami
FSU women’s tennis dropped their second ACC match in a row as they faced in-state rival and sixth-ranked Miami. The Seminoles lost 7-0 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, FL.

Coral Gables, FL – The No. 24 Florida State women’s tennis team dropped their second ACC match in a row as they faced in-state rival and sixth-ranked Miami today, March 11. The Seminoles lost 7-0 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Hurricanes lead the all-time series record against the Seminoles 19-4. The Seminoles’ record fell to 7-4, 0-2 while the Hurricanes rose to 13-3, 3-1. This is the first time Florida State has been swept by Miami since the 2006 season.
The doubles point was awarded to Miami after taking two of the three matches. Junior Lauren Macfarlane (Ogden, Utah) and sophomore Bonny Davidson (Johannesburg, South Africa) won the only doubles match defeating Gabriela Mejia and Claudia Wasilewski 8-3 on court three. The Hurricanes won 8-0 and 8-1 on court one and two, respectively.
In singles, the Hurricanes swept the board winning all but two sets. Macfarlane won the first set against No. 40 Bianca Elchkorn but fell in the final two and lost 1-6, 6-3, 11-9. Junior Jessica Sucupira (Whitehouse, Texas) lost the first match but won the second only to fall in the third. Claudia Wasilewski of Miami defeated her 6-2, 1-6, 10-6.
The Seminoles head home to Tallahassee to host the Clemson Tigers at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th. Admission is free at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
