TAMPA – USF head football coach Jim Leavitt has committed to run the 40-yard dash as part of the festivities around the USF Student Combine leading up to the annual Spring Game.
Spurred by immense media pressure, Coach Leavitt said that he would run a “5.9” forty-yard dash prior to a recent practice session.
Throughout his career, Coach Leavitt has led the Bulls onto the field at a full sprint. He is known to outpace his security team by several lengths.
Next week he will set the pace for students competing in the USF Combine – a competition to name the best USF athlete, which will be judged on individual results in the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, shuttle run and broad jump.

They will also receive the t-shirt signifying their achievement... if they can beat Coach Leavitt’s 40 time.
Students will compete in the prelims of the combine on Saturday, April 4. The finals will be held on the field at the Spring Game on April 11 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
During the Spring Game, video of Coach Leavitt’s 40-yard dash will be played in conjunction with the finals of the competition.
