UPDATE 5.27.09 7:05pm

It has been six months since a brawl at the FSU Student Union and now, another FSU football player is under arrest for it.

FSU Police say wide receiver Richard Goodman is facing the most serious charges of all, felony aggravated battery, for his role in the November fight.

A police spokesman says they were finally able to reach a witness who saw Goodman throw a chair that struck a woman and broke several bones in her face.

"She looked up and here in front of her was this chair in midair and hit her in the face. So. she was in the wrong position at the wrong time when this chair was thrown and it hit her," said Major Jim Russell.

Goodman was suspended from the team by Coach Bowden today.

FSU police now consider the student union brawl "case closed."

Two other players, Bert Reed and Cameron Wade, were previously arrested on misdemeanor charges for their role in the affray.

FSU News Release:

FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL PLAYER SUSPENDED IN UNION FIGHT

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden today announced the suspension of senior wide receiver Richard Goodman following his arrest in connection with a fight that took place last fall at the university’s Oglesby Union.

“We’re suspending Richard Goodman, indefinitely, beginning today until the matter has been resolved,” Bowden said.

Goodman, 22, turned himself in to the Leon County Jail on Tuesday, May 26, on a warrant for his arrest obtained by Florida State University police. He was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm, a second-degree felony. Goodman later posted bond and was released.

Goodman is accused of throwing a chair that struck a female bystander in the face during a fight that broke out between Florida State football players and members of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity on Nov. 12, 2008. The woman struck with the chair suffered extensive injuries.

“With all of the information coming in, we knew it was extremely important to be thorough -- and we have been,” said Maj. Jim Russell of the Florida State University Police Department. “This arrest concludes our investigation.”

Goodman is the third football player to be charged in the fight. Two others were charged with one count each of misdemeanor battery in November 2008.

Under Florida State Athletics Department policy, “a student-athlete charged with a felony, absent extraordinary circumstances as determined by the administration, is not permitted to represent Florida State Athletics in game competition until such time as the charge is resolved and all court, university and athletics department conditions for reinstatement have been met.”

In addition, Florida State’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities will follow its policy of reviewing police reports involving students for violations of the Student Code of Conduct.

Goodman, from Fort Lauderdale, did not play in 2008 while recovering from a broken leg suffered late in the 2007 football season.

Hey BIbbly: You saying those quotes from the Bible are wrong then prove it. So I copied some quotes from your Bible and instead of any real retort you spew some 3rd grade taunting challenge claiming you can make me look like someone with an IQ of an earthworm. Yeah I'm waiting on that earthworm thing, might win me some contests on the next Halloween. Oh you holey rollers dont do the samhain, no trick or treating for you, just tricks and cheating. Hey while your proving those quotes from your bible dont mean anything, try this one on for size too>>>Hebrew words "adam" (120 & 121) in Strong's concordance, meaning man or humankind and ruddy skin colour. In other words - a complexion so light that the blood beneath the skin shows through enough to look "ruddy." Blush much? Maybe you want to tell me about yakub and all that... Instead of your childish taunts take those 1000 characters and school me little Billy Bible Boy! I dont mind learning from Scolars. Try this. Whats gods moms name?

Idiot, quit making your self look like a complete idiot. You obviously copied from some writer who puts his own spin on things instead of what is written. If you care to debate I can make you look like someone with the IQ of an earthworm. In other words next time you feel the need to copy anothers words you may want to make sure they are credible.
