Former Rickards Raider stand out William Gay has seen his share of fireworks in the last year. The Pittsburgh Steeler cornerback helped his team to a 12-4 regular season record, and their 2nd Superbowl title in four years.

So it's no surprise then that Gay chose July 4th to begin his first annual Family Funfest...With the help of Winn Dixie and others, Gay put on a day of free games and free food at Jack McLean park in Tallahassee.

This isn't the first time he's given back to the community he was raised in. He's also donated money and cleats, and even spoken to students at Rickards High.

Gay missed a connecting flight from Atlanta to be at the event himself, but that didn't stop people from bragging about their Superbowl Champ.

Rickards Head Football Coach Rudy Hubbard says, "Will's a big part of Rickards, so we're proud of what he's done and we're glad to see that he still thinks about the community, in terms of doing this for our community. We have not other choice but to support him."

Gay's uncle, Ronald Hall added, "It's a good deal for him to be where he's at today and be able to give back to the community. He always said that's what he wanted to do, give back to the community to show appreciation, for his success."
