Tallahassee Community College's run to the National Tournament began in Florida with a state and region championship defeating rival Chipola in a triple overtime thriller led by FCCAA Tournament Most Valuable Player Archie Miaway.
The Eagles were off to Hutchinson Kansas to compete for a National Championship.
TCC ran through the early competition and landed in the championship game against the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Although the Eagles came up short against Fort Smith, TCC came home with the runner up trophy and a host of post season honors including head coach Eddie Barnes being named National Junior College Coach of the year, making TCC'S 31-4 record and national runner up status our honorable mention for the top 10 local sports stories of 2006.
