TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Seminole swimmer Georgia Holderness was named to the Great Britain World Championship team on Friday, July 10.
"Having missed out at the trials, I had no thoughts of going to Rome," Holderness said. "When the phone call came to tell me that I was on the team it was totally unexpected."
Holderness, who is replacing an injured swimmer, will compete in the 50 and 100 breast in Rome, Italy for England. She could also have the opportunity to compete on Great Britain's 400 medley relay team.
"I am thrilled and honored at having such an amazing opportunity to represent my country at such a high level," Holderness said. "I have waited a long time to have this experience, I am really excited and can't wait to get there."
Holderness will join diver Terry Horner in Rome as Horner will compete on the one-meter board representing the United States. The World Championships will run from July 17-25.
