The inaugural University of Florida women’s lacrosse team was welcomed to campus on Sunday night as the University Athletic Association welcomed the student-athletes and their families with a reception and the opening of the brand new lacrosse facility.
Athletic director Jeremy Foley spoke to the group and associate athletic director Chip Howard gave the team a tour of their new home. The state-of-the-art facility houses two lacrosse fields (one game field, one practice field), a practice field for the soccer team, locker room and equipment room facilities, a training room, concession stands, restrooms, a press box and seating for 1,500 fans.
The new facility is located at Hull Road and Natural Area Drive, just south of Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium. The Gators have their home opener scheduled for February 20, 2010 against Jacksonville.
