Colquitt Co. Head Football Coach Rush Propst says,
"When you go out and hope to win and want to win versus expecting to win, I don't believe you should hope to win or want to win, I think you should expect to win and that's what we're trying to do and these kids have got to learn that step and it's a huge step."
But a necessary one if the Packers of Colquitt county want to rise up from the six wins in the last two years. As Rush Propst enters his second year as Head Coach, the players are ready for an adjustment.
Colquitt Co. Senior Free Safety Davis Durham adds,
"We've all bought in to it and we love him and the way he coaches and we know he's going to put us where we need to be to win games."
The change for the Packers began as soon as 2008 ended. The workouts and camps throughout the spring and summer have helped and are showing on the practice field.
Colquitt Co. Senior Wide Receiver Quin Roberson says,
"We learned how to compete more. Before he got here we weren't much competitors, we just went out and played football because that's what we wanted to do."
Rush Propst adds,
"We hit it pretty hard, we lifted, we made a big emphasis on lifting and what we were doing and obviously a long offseason program then you turnaround and get in a tough spring ball and then you turn around and turn into summer workouts and seven on sevens then we went to two a days camp and all this we're doing, through four tough periods before you can line up."
Experience will be the key for the Packers this season. Ten starters return on defense and key position players return for the offense as they look to establish themselves once again in Georgia.
