UF Has 6 Players with Flu; 2 Others with Nagging Injuries

In Gainesville, the topranked Florida Gators are visiting the school nurse... 6 players missed practice today with flu-like symptoms... Coach Urban Meyer said none are swine-flu related, but did say that the flu contributed to a few minor struggles last week against UT. Players that missed practice so far this week include linebacker AJ Jones, receivers coach Billy Gonzales, defensive back Josh Evans, wideout Justin Williams, offensive lineman Shawn Schmieder and tailback Mike Gillislee... Team that with players that are hurt like Brandon Spikes who has a sore achilles and Deonte Thompson who has a sore hamstring, the Gators are weak, this weak in practice. After Saturday's game against the Vols, Coach Urban Meyer downplayed a closer-than-expected game and emphasized how out of proportion the score would have been without a few key mistakes out of the Orange & Blue.

"Oh we just missed some tackles and on the screen pass, they had two pretty good backs. So, I'm not as down as coach Strong. I probably will be after I watch the film and be more critical. On thing though is I thought we controlled the line of scrimmage. Our defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage, which they had to do to win this game." said Florida Gators Head Football Coach Urban Meyer.
