DE Kevin Carter Signs with Bucs

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Free-agent defensive end Kevin Carter signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

Carter is fourth among active players with 97.5 career sacks and has not missed a game in 12 seasons with the Titans, Rams and Dolphins, who released him last week after he was unable to reach an agreement on a restructured contract.

The 34-year-old has played in 192 consecutive games since entering the league with the Rams as the sixth overall pick in the 1995 draft. He spent the last two seasons with the Dolphins and had 5.5 sacks and recovered two fumbles in 2006.

Signing an experienced pass rusher became a priority over the weekend when the Bucs lost free-agent end Dewayne White to the Detroit Lions.
