RALEIGH, N.C. - Marke Freeman and Secrett Anderson were named to the 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, Monday evening in Raleigh, N.C.
This will mark for the second year in a row, that FAMU has had someone named to the MEAC All-Rookie Team. Current sophomore guard Deidra Jones was the 2006 MEAC Rookie of the Year.
Anderson named to MEAC All-Rookie Team, Monday evening
Freeman, a 5-4 freshman guard from Springfield, Ill., led the Lady Rattlers in scoring in 10 of their 29 games, while averaging 9.9 points per game. She was tabbed the MEAC Rookie of the Week three times (Dec. 11, Dec 18. and Feb. 12).
She scored a career high 28 points against Stetson (Dec. 16) and dropped in 21 points against Georgia State (Dec. 18).
Anderson, 6-0 freshman forward from Arlington, Texas has started in 28 of the 29 games, that she has played in, while averaging 8.9 points per game. She scored a career high 24 points against Howard (Feb. 19) and dropped in 17 points against Saint Leo (Nov. 10, 2006).
The Lady Rattlers finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-15 and 10-8 record in conference play to captured the No. 6 seed in the 2007 MEAC Basketball Tournament.
