VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State Lady Blazers earned a bid to the NCAA South Regional Sunday evening as the school was named one of 2007's 42 at-large recepeints to the tournament.
The Lady Blazers will be the No. 4 seed in the South Regional and will play No. 5 Tampa in the first round on Friday, March 9 at a yet to be determined time.
With a victory against Tampa, Valdosta State would meet either No. 1 and host Florida Gulf Coast or No. 8 Benedict. Also in the regional are No. 2 Delta State, the Gulf South Conference champions, No. 3 Arkansas Tech, who eliminated VSU from the GSC Tournament in Saturday's semifinals, No. 6 Rollins and No. 7 Florida Tech.
Tampa won the Sunshine State Conference this year, defeating Rollins 68-66 in overtime. The Spartans registered a 23-7 record during the 2006-07 regular season
