GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Reggie Nelson spent part of his workout
today in long pants, gloves and a hooded sweat shirt that covered
his bundled dreadlocks.
His appearance may have let him blend in with others at
Florida's N-F-L scouting combine.
His performance certainly made him stand out.
The All-American safety impressed coaches, scouts and general
managers with his speed, athleticism and ball-hawking ability. The
same things that made him a fan favorite at Florida probably will
make him a first-round pick in next month's N-F-L draft.
As Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin put
it ``Great instincts, great speed, leadership.''
Last season the hard-hitting safety made touchdown-saving
tackles, comeback-ending interceptions and momentum-turning hits
look routine. He could do the same at the next level.
