Coaches Corner : Tony Trifinov, FAMU Volleyball

The eight time defending conference champion Florida A&M volleyball team find themselves in familiar territory yet again, atop the MEAC standings. A weekend sweep of Winston-Salem State and North Carolina A&T at their all-new teaching gymnasium, has given the Orange and Green a five match win streak, and they sit 3-0 in conference... Not bad for a team still learning how to play with one another..

Coach Trifinov says, "With four new starters, it's always a learning process and the kids are playing through pain, which shows a lot of character. We've learned a lot about the character of the team. With the long road trips, and being hurt and still perservering, and being undefeated in the conference, that's what we've been able to accomplish.."

After a month and eight matches on the road, the Rattlers are happy to have home court advantage back on their side through the next week.

Trifinov adds, "It's an awesome facility and you know, being on the road, and coming home to practice, it's a difference between night and day. Ours is one of the best facilities around, so we're definitely excited to be here. This period at home is going to give our kids a chance to give their bodies a little bit of a rest and recooperate from some of the injuries that we've had."

The homestand concludes this weekend when rival Bethune Cookman come to town Sunday, as the Rattlers look to continue striking down the competition.
