VALDOSTA, Ga. - Fourteen of the top 23 teams in the nation, according to the latest GolfStat NCAA Division II rankings, will compete in the 2007 Southern Intercollegiate, hosted by No. 16 Valdosta State, beginning Monday, March 19 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The 18-team field for one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious Division II golf tournaments consists of seven teams currently ranked in the Top 10 in the nation, including No. 1 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 2 Florida Southern as well as third-ranked and defending tournament champion West Florida. Additionally, sixth-ranked Barry, No. 7 Georgia College, No. 8 Nova Southeastern and No. 10 Lynn will also compete. The field is rounded out by 11th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic, No. 14 Eckered, No. 17 Presbyterian, 20th-ranked North Alabama, No. 21 Florida Tech, No. 23 Rollins, No. 49 Coker, No. 50 Saint Leo, No. 52 Tampa and 56th-ranked West Georgia.
Three of GolfStat's Top 100 amateur golfers in the nation, regardless of collegiate level, will be present at the event, including two from West Florida in the form of 54th-ranked Matt Galloway and No. 77 David Lingmerth. Armstrong Atlantic's Chris Wolfe, currently ranked 86th nationally, will also compete.
The 2007 Southern Intercollegiate begins with 36 holes on Monday before concluding with 18 holes on Tuesday, March 20. Monday's first round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with the second round immediately following. Tuesday's final round will also begin at 8:30 a.m., with teams teeing off from the first and 10th holes every eight minutes.
Kinderlou Forest, one of the premiere courses in South Georgia, features a par-72, 7,127 yard course designed by Davis Love, III.

Teeing off on holes 13-15 - Rollins, Coker and North Alabama
