TCC Eagles Grounded by Chipola

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 17, 2007) – Tallahassee Community College’s Derrick Conatser and Chipola College’s Drew Parker were locked in a pitcher’s duel with Chipola coming out on top with a 3-2 victory over the Eagles Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Conatser pitched a complete game allowing two earned runs off seven hits with eight strikeouts. Parker pitched 7.0 innings allowing one run off six hits with six strikeouts. Daniel Jones pitched the final two innings earning his third save of the year.

Seven different Eagles scattered hits with Brenton Goebel and Rheed Baldwin recording RBIs. Tom Hatcher went 2 for 4 with a double and Jones went 2 for 4 and plated the winning run in the seventh inning to pace Chipola. Brian Hobbs added a triple in the sixth inning.

Lucas Rutherford led off the seventh inning with a single into center field and Rheed Baldwin singled into right field putting runners on the corners with no outs. Brandon Sizemore’s potential sac fly wasn’t hit deep enough into center field to plate Rutherford. Goebel hit into fielder’s choice to plate the first TCC run and Tyler Phillips grounded out to second base to end the inning.

TCC threatened again in the ninth with Lee Campbell’s lead off single into right center and later moved to second on passed ball. Rutherford grounded out to the pitcher moving Campbell to third with two outs. Sizemore grounded out to second base to end the game.

TCC will look to pick-up its first Panhandle Conference victory on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Chipola at Eagle Field.
