Once again a Patrick Ewing and the Hoyas will play in the Elite 8. However, much has changed over two decades since one of greatest college big men dominated the college ranks. This time it's Ewing son, Patrick Jr. who will take the Hoyas to the Elite 8.
The Hoyas slid past a solid Vanderbilt team led by SEC player of the year Derrick Byars, who joined teammate Dan Cage with a game-high 17 points.
Unlike his pops, Ewing Jr. is more of a role player who watches big man Jeff Green represent the Hoyas in the paint. It was Green who knocked down a bank shot with 2.5 seconds remaining to clinch the Hoyas first trip to the Elite Eight in 11 years.
