CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) _ Kirby Freeman completed 13 of 24
passes for 189 yards and a touchdown today in Miami's first open
scrimmage of the spring practice season.
His numbers were better than those of Kyle Wright. Wright -- who
was the starter before getting hurt late last season -- was
15-of-41 for 82 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
New Miami coach Randy Shannon says he isn't letting the
quarterbacks talk to reporters at spring practice. Shannon says he
won't pick a starter until August 28th. That's just five days
before the Hurricanes open the season at home against Marshall.
Freeman completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to fullback Jerrell
Mabry and a 60-yard pass to wide receiver Lance Leggett, who also
caught a ten-yard scoring pass from Wright to end the scrimmage.
