For the second time in Atlantic Coast Conference history, a team outside of the state of North Carolina claimed the ACC regular season crown, that team, the Florida State Seminoles. The 'Noles finished off the season going (14-3-1) in route to their first ever ACC regular season title.
FSU Senior Defender Becky Edwards says,
"It's exciting. This is my fourth year here and we've never won it before so being a part of it is a coolw ay to go out, leaving your stamp here and leaving your legacy."
The 'Noles will face off with eigth seeded Duke who bettled to a scoreless tie with Florida State in early October.
FSU Junior Midfielder adds,
"It's going to be exciting for us. We tied them in the regular season and I think it was a game we all felt liek we could win so I thnk we're just ready to go in there and make a big statement."
FSU Head Soccer Coach Mark Krikorian adds,
"Well Duke's very hard working team. They have two front players Gummersall and Redmond that are very capiable of scoring so we'll have to lock them down a bit. A freshman goalkeeper who has done quite well for them.. they're solid all over th eplace so if we can finish our chances, I think we're going to create some chances but if we can finish them then the game will come a little easier to us and we need to make sure that we defend them and don't give up a whole lot."
The Seminoles are looking for a better performance in the conference tournament than last year, where they lost in the first round to Virginia Tech in penalty kicks.
