The South Georgia Peanuts have added three more players to the roster for
the upcoming season. Pitchers Chris Howell and Rob Riley were signed to
contracts in addition to outfielder Chris Demons earlier this week. The
signings bring the total number of players on the roster to 16.

Two of the players have ties to the state of Georgia. Howell, a native of
Fitzgerald, played two years at the University of Tennessee after spending
two years at Chipola junior college. Howell appeared in 31 games including
two starts during his two years at Tennessee. Upon graduation, Howell was
signed by the Angels organization and played from 2005-2006 in their
system. Last year he made 41 appearances for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and
finished with a 4.39 ERA. He has a career minor league record of 2-7 with
two saves and a 4.63 ERA.

Demons is a native of Augusta and played four seasons for Augusta State.
He finished his career with a .296 batting average. As a senior in 2006,
Demons hit .307 with nine home runs. He also ranked in the top 40 in the
country for stolen bases with 25. In 2004, he had a batting averageof
.355. This will be his first experience in professional baseball.

Riley brings two years of minor league experience to the Peanuts. In 2005,
Riley appeared in two games for the Shreveport Sports of the now-defunct
Central Baseball League. Last season, Riley pitched for the Yuma Scorpions
of the Golden League. Riley has made 19 career appearances with a record
of 1-0 and an ERA of 11.14.
