Tallahassee, FL - Tallahassee Community College held on to the number one ranking in the Florida Community College Activities Association’s (FCCAA) Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll when the first regular season poll was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles, now 3-0 following Tuesday evening’s 81-63 win at Gordon (Ga.) College, received nine of the possible 14 first-place votes and 132 total points in the voting to outdistance No. 2 Central Florida Community College, who was number one on four ballots.
TCC and Central Florida are followed by No. 3 Northwest Florida State College, who received the remaining first-place vote, No. 4 Chipola College and No. 5 Gulf Coast Community College, giving the Panhandle Conference four of the top five spots in the top ten.
Rounding out the top ten is No. 6 Miami Dade College, No. 7 Broward College, No. 8 Indian River State College, No. 9 Santa Fe College and No. 10 Hillsborough Community College.
Meanwhile, the TCC women slipped two spots to No. 7 in the FCCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ poll heading into Friday’s 3 p.m. game against NJCAA No. 2 Jefferson (Mo.) College in Marianna, Fla., at the Holiday Inn/Alzheimer’s Classic.
