GA SHORT TRACK RACING April 19-26

Top choice for asphalt race chasers Saturday will be the Georgia Asphalt Series 100-lapper at Lanier, and who could miss the Mini-Van demo derby?

A year ago, Joey Senter won this race, sliding across the finish line after contact with Paul Kelley.

“It was the last turn of the last lap,” recalled Kelley. “I had led every single lap, and then in turns three and four he got into the back of me. That took my momentum away. It probably took my momentum away a little too much. He got ahead of us coming to the start-finish line, and he ended up in front of us. It was one of those racing deals, but I think we should’ve won that one.”

Mini-van demo rules: age 16+, $25 entry fee, top three cars earn prize money, and car must be removed from Lanier following the event.

Lanier’s cement go-kart track is under construction at the rear of the parking lot.

Adm: $20 adults.
