Florida State Pitcher Michael Hyde has a win - loss of 8-2, an era of 2.69 and opponents are hitting a meager .229 against him. Yet, starting this weekend, he is losing his spot as the Saturday starter. Coach Martin has been leaning this way for a couple weeks.
For those close to the program this isn't a surprise. The beneficiary of all this is Ryan Strauss, he moves to the Saturday starter.
The new Sunday starter is yet to be determined.
Martin has been known to do this before. Sometimes a late rotation shakeup is what a team needs to get focused for the stretch run.
Coach Martin hopes this is the case as his team heads to Miami this weekend for three with the Canes. "I think that we needed to do something,” he says. “We were just not getting the innings we needed in our Saturday starter and Strauss had pitched fairly well on Sunday and I think he deserves that opportunity."
