CAIRO, GA--It seems like the recent drought hasn't affected the Cairo High School Syrup-makers. The team stands in their usual spot, playing to advance to the second round of the state tournament.
Unfortunately for the team, history is not in their favor. The team has never won this game, and made it past the preliminary round before. This year they rank second in their region, and are playing well enough to ponder the prospects of advancing and showing that soccer has its role in South Georgia too.
First year coach Barbara Dodwin explains, "Oh, that would be awesome, that would just be great for our program and it would show our northern schools that South Georgia can play soccer."
