NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Dominic de la Osa led a Vanderbilt
hitting attack that included a nine-run spree in the seventh inning
and propelled Vanderbilt to a 17-to-6 victory over Florida today.
The Commodores jumped to a 6-to-1 lead in the first before the
Gators tied the game in the fourth. But Vanderbilt snapped the
6-all tie in the sixth with an R-B-I single by freshman Andrew
Gobi. From there they just kept on going.
De la Osa led the team, driving in four runs on four hits,
including his 13th home run of the year to open the seventh. Pedro
Alvarez and Ryan Flaherty contributed three hits each as Flaherty
extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
In all, the Commodores scored a season high 17 runs on nine hits
in their sixth straight win, improving to 38-and-8 overall and
14-and-6 in the Southeastern Conference. The Gators dropped to
23-and-22 and 10-and-10 in league action.
