Pesky 'Canes Avoid Seminole Sweep


CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Eric Erickson shut out Florida State batters for five innings to help Miami beat the Seminoles 7-1 today.

Dennis Raben went 3-for-3 and had two RBIs for the Hurricanes and Blake Tekotte recorded two hits. Miami (27-19, 12-12 Atlantic Coast Conference) also got some help in the fifth inning, when Yonder Alonso and Tekotte both scored on two throwing errors.

Erickson (6-3) came out of the game after the sixth inning. It was in the sixth that Buster Posey drove in Florida State's (39-7, 17-4) lone run. Tony Thomas Junior opened the inning with a double and later came home to score on Posey's single to right field.

Danny Rosen (1-1) picked up the loss for Florida State. Rosen
pitched four innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits.
