Braves Outdueled by Dodgers

ATLANTA (AP) _ Derek Lowe outpitched Tim Hudson and the Los
Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 6-to-3 in a matchup of
first-place teams.
Lowe evened his mark at 3-and-3. He held the Braves to one
unearned run and three hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings.
After giving up a leadoff double to Willie Harris in the fifth,
Lowe retired the last nine batters he faced.
Hudson fell to 3-and-1. He pitched well while taking his first
loss in eight career starts against the Dodgers. Hudson had been
5-and-0 against Los Angeles. He gave up seven hits and three runs
in eight innings.
Ex-Brave Wilson Betemit, normally the Dodgers' starting third
baseman, hit a pinch-hit homer off Hudson in the eighth.
