Reynolds and Jared signing XC Scholarship to UWF

Reynolds Griner joined the Leon Cross Country Team at the beginning of
his sophomore year. By the end of that season, he knew that he had found
"his sport". With much encouragement from his coaches, Allison Eagen and
Andrew Wills, Reynolds has fulfilled many of the goals that he and
Leon's Cross Country Team set at the beginning of his junior year. He
and Jared Black are captains of the 2006-07 Cross Country Team; he was
named to the FHSAA Division 3A All District Team; and helped Leon's team
win 4th Place in the State Meet. He received Honorable Mention as a
member of the Tallahassee Democrat's All Big Bend Cross Country Team.

In addition to cross country, Reynolds has devoted most of his "leisure"
time to Scouting. An Eagle Scout from Killearn United Methodist Church's
BSA Troop 23, he participated in many camping and high adventure
activities, including a 10-day hiking trek at Philmont, New Mexico. He
credits those outdoor activities and hiking experiences in preparing him
for the grueling trail runs that are required to compete in cross

In looking to the future, Reynolds has chosen to run for the University
of West Florida's Argonauts for several reasons. He says that he felt at
home from the first time he visited the campus and met the UWF coach,
Matt Dobson. He was impressed with Coach Dobson's training regime and
with the friendly reception he received from the team members. And he
likes the academic atmosphere. "It's just a perfect fit for me, size
wise, sports wise and distance wise".

Jared Black has been a member of the Leon High School varsity cross
county team for four years and varsity track for three years, playing
baseball his freshman year. In the 2004 cross country season Jared
earned Honorable Mention All Big Bend, 2005 and 2006 2nd Team All Big
Bend and in 2006 All Panhandle Team with a PR of 16:22. Jared was Leon's
cross-country team captain for 2005 and co-captain with Reynolds Griner
in 2006. Additionally, Jared was chosen for the FACA Senior All-Star
Team for 2006. This year Jared was an integral part of the Leon boy's
cross county team placing 2nd at District, 3rd at Region, and 4th place
in the Class 3A State meet, Leon's last boy's team to run at the State
Meet was five years ago. Jared received the Outstanding Distance Runners
award for the 2005 track season at Leon. Although this year's track
season was cut short by an injury, Jared did have a PR of 9:57 in the
