Tallahassee, Fla. – Making his second start in a Seminole uniform, Danny Rosen led Florida State to a 3-2 victory over Maryland on Sunday to help complete FSU’s first three-game road sweep of the season.
Rosen earned his first win as a starter as he posted career-highs in innings pitched and strikeouts. The junior right hander struck out a career-high 12 batters in 7.1 innings. Rosen faced just two batters over the minimum through the first seven innings as he gave up two hits while striking out 11.
The Miami, Fla., native struck out three batters in the first and third innings and set down the final two batters in the seventh on strikes. Rosen began the eighth inning striking out Maryland's Will Greenberg to set the team season-high for strikeouts in a ball game by a Seminole pitcher passing Bryan Henry, who struck out 11 against Tennessee back on opening day. He would finish the game allowing just two runs on four hits. He did not walk a single batter through 7.1 innings as he improved to 2-1 on the year.
This is the seventh time this season a Seminole student-athlete has been recognized by the conference office, while it’s the second time in three weeks Florida State has garnered ACC Pitcher of the Week accolades. Bryan Henry took home weekly honors on April 23 for his performance in a 4-2 FSU victory over North Carolina.
