Tallahassee, FL - Tallahassee Community College’s basketball teams will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday on the hardwood with a total of four games, beginning with men’s action on Thursday evening when the Eagles host the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie at 8 p.m..

TCC (4-2) continues its longstanding tradition of holiday hoops by hosting the Ramada Conference Center Classic on November 26-27. Clinton (S.C.) Junior College, Daytona State College and USC-Salkehatchie will join TCC at the Eagledome for four games over two days.

The Eagles, who opened the season ranked seventh nationally, dropped out of the NJCAA poll this week following an 83-68 loss at then-No. 1 Central Florida Community College on Saturday evening. Despite the loss, TCC did receive votes in this week’s poll and moved up one spot to No. 4 in the FCCAA Coaches’ Poll.

After splitting four games on the road, the friendly confines of the Eagledome, particularly on Thanksgiving night, might be the perfect remedy for TCC. In the 17-year history of their annual Thanksgiving Classic, the Eagles are an impressive 41-3, including an 87-55 win over Aiken (S.C.) Technical College in 2008.

TCC won its only previous meeting against USC-Salkehatchie, an 82-50 win in Tallahassee on December 30, 2008. Meanwhile, Clinton is making its sixth trip to Tallahassee for Thanksgiving action. The Eagles are 6-0 all-time against Clinton.

Thursday’s action begins at 6 p.m. with a match-up between Daytona State and Clinton. Friday’s schedule begins at 3 p.m. with Daytona State and USC-Salkehatchie. TCC and Clinton are scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m.

Both of TCC’s games can be seen online at www.TCCeagles.com.

Admission is $5 each day.

Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles (5-2) will carry a five-game winning streak to Decatur, Ga., where they will play a pair of games in the Georgia Perimeter College Thanksgiving Classic. TCC opens play at 6 p.m. Friday against host Georgia Perimeter in what will be the Lady Jaguars’ third straight game against a Panhandle Conference opponent.

Georgia Perimeter lost to NJCAA No. 1 Gulf Coast Community College, 98-49, on November 20, but rebounded to defeat No. 22 Chipola College, 71-65, the next day.

Saturday’s 2 p.m. opponent is No. 5 Walters State (Tenn.) Community College. Walters State, who finished fifth at the 2009 NJCAA Tournament, has won 46 straight regular season games. TCC already has one victory against a top-five opponent, having defeated then-No. 2 Jefferson (Mo.) College on November 13.

Following weekend action, TCC’s men and women will play its first home doubleheader of the season on Tuesday, December 1 against South Georgia Tech. Fans are being asked to wear blue on Tuesday as TCC Athletics shows its support for the United Way of the Big Bend.

The Lady Eagles tip things off at 5:30 p.m. followed by men’s action at 7:30 p.m.
