FSU's Jacinta Monroe Gets Team USA Tryout

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Florida State’s Jacinta Monroe (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) will join 36 others, including Pacific-10 Conference Freshman of the Year Jayne Appel (Stanford/Pleasant Hill, Calif.) and two-time Naismith High School Player of the Year Maya Moore (Collins Hill H.S./Lawrenceville, Ga.) as well as 10 gold medal winners from the 2006 USA U18 National Team in competing for a spot on the 2007 USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team at the 2007 USA Basketball Junior National Teams Trials, which will be held May 17-20 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The invitations to 37 of the nation’s top 19-and-unders (born on or after Jan. 1, 1988) were issued by the USA Basketball Women’s Collegiate Committee, which is chaired by Sue Donohoe, the NCAA’s vice president of Division I women’s basketball.
