ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Georgia swept a doubleheader from 13th-ranked
Mississippi State today, winning 2-to-1 and 5-to-3 to claim the
Southeastern Conference series.
Junior Joshua Fields earned saves in each win as the Bulldogs
improved to 22-31 overall and 10-17 in the S-E-C.
Georgia has won five straight series over Mississippi State and
former Georgia coach Ron Polk, who spent the 2000 and 2001 seasons
Georgia sophomore Nathan Moreau (5-2) gave up only four hits and
one run with a walk and three strikeouts in six innings to earn the
win in the first game.
Georgia junior Ryan Peisel's 18-game hitting streak ended. He
was 0-for-2 with a walk.
Mississippi State led 2-to-0 in the second game, but Joanthan
Wyatt was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, including a homer.
