It's the moment we've all been waiting for, The Super 6! That name alone has a lot of meaning in this area.
These are top 6 high school football players in North Florida and South Georgia - we're talking about names like Gavin Dickey, Cameron Wade, Ernie Sims, Lynn Williams, and Antonio Cromartie.
Those are just some of the standout players that have graced the list over the years, but the scary thing is this may be the best 6 we've ever had. We randomly start off the 2007 Super 6 in the Rose City.
Our own Layne Herdt introduces us to Thomasville High's Brandon Thompson. At 6'3" 280 pounds, Thompson is a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line.
However, size alone doesn't make a player great, it's his attitude and dedication, 2 things Thompson has bought into entering his senior season.
Thomasville High head coach Richie Marsh said, "He knows what he wants to be and in that he knows what he's gotta do to get there and he's really taking those goals to heart and I think he's had a new focus since Christmas."
Thomasville High defensive lineman Brandon Thompson said, "I tried to get a new focus about this because now I have people looking up to me and if they see me doing the right thing in the weight room getting stronger working hard, then I can persuade them to do the right thing and get better."
Thompson's job this year, anchor the defense, all while facing countless double teams.
Thompson said, "It's going to be tough, but I'm going to make it through it.
Do my best to get back there and make the tackle."
Don't be fooled by the mild-mannered Bulldog; once he hits that field, it's like flipping a switch.
Thompson said, "When I get on the field I just get nasty, do my best. I turn on that little switch and I'm there."
That means lights out for Thompson and Thomasville's opponents.
