The Associated Press - ATHENS, Ga.
Vince Dooley is recovering from surgery to remove a tumor near his vocal cords, his wife says.
"He's doing great. Just tell our friends not to call him because he can't say a word for 10 days," Barbara Dooley said.
The legendary University of Georgia coach was resting comfortably at his Athens home Tuesday night.
Dooley, who turns 75 in September, had been experiencing some hoarseness in his voice for several months, Barbara Dooley said. An examination revealed the tumor near his vocal cords, she said.
Dooley served UGA for a total of 41 years as head football coach and athletic director, and retired on June 30, 2004. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
