HOUSTON (AP) _ The Cincinnati Reds have placed center fielder
Ryan Freel on the 15-day disabled list. He suffered contusions to
his head and neck from a collision with right fielder Norris Hopper
in yesterday's game with Pittsburgh.
Freel lay motionless for several minutes before being taken off
the field on a stretcher. He was released from a hospital today and
will see a head and spine specialist tomorrow.
The Reds filled the roster spot by recalling Dewayne Wise from
Triple-A Louisville. Wise is hitting .256 with seven homers and 19
R-B-Is in 44 games for Louisville this season.
