With the third pick of the third round, and the 97th overall, the Chicago Cubs took Seminoles leadoff star Tony Thomas Jr.

The first pick overall was made by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays who took Vanderbilt's star southpaw David Price.

Georgia Tech's Matthew Wieters went 5th overall to the Orioles.

The Braves first pick, number 14, was used on Jason Heyward, a slugger who grew up just a few miles from Turner Field. He has been compared to Fred McGriff.

FSU's Jack Rye and Bryan Henry are both expected to be nabbed on the second day of the Major League draft.
