Charlie Ward Hired as Basketball Coach

Charlie Ward has been an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets, and he won the Heisman Trophy as a quarterback for Florida State. Now he'll try his hand as an assistant high school basketball coach.

Ward, who won the Heisman in 1993, has been hired by Westbury Christian High School in Houston as an assistant coach for the varsity boys basketball team.

Ward played eleven years in the NBA, ten years with the New York Knicks and one year with the Houston Rockets, before becoming an assistant coach.

Charlie Ward hasn't forgotten about home either. His youth basketball camp in Thomasville, Georgia kicks off in about two weeks.
