Blazers Baseball To Set New Game Plan

By  |

VALDOSTA--- Greg Guilliams is getting acquainted with his new gig as Head Coach of the Blazers.

On Thursday he held an open tryout to evaluate the local talent. He's also at work forming a long-term plan and team identity.

Coach Guilliams hopes to have the team return to the basics: pitching and defense. Last year, the team had 100 errors in 57 games. The team ERA of 4.75 was .04 higher than the opposition.

If he can improve those two aspects of the game, Blazers should turn a winning season.

Coach explains, "I think all great teams defend first and that will be our first priority, but having said that I like to score runs like everybody else so we're looking to have a complete ball club."
