OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A tough night for the Tar Heels.
Freshman Jorge Reyes gave Oregon State another strong pitching
performance in the Beavers' 11-to-4 win over North Carolina in Game
1 of the College World Series championship.
North Carolina (57-15) had won three straight elimination games
to set up a rematch of last year's championship. The Tar Heels will
need to win twice more to keep Oregon State (48-18) from becoming
the first back-to-back national champion since L-S-U in 1996-97.
The Beavers have won all four of their College World Series
games and 10 of their last 11 overall.
The teams meet again tomorrow (Sunday) night in the
best-of-three series.
