Whether he likes it or not, Charlie Ward will always be remembered for his football exploits when he returns to the Big Bend. It was in Tallahassee, that he offered dignity and class, while leading the Noles to the pinnacle of college football. For that, he is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
However, it's the same strengths that made him a leader on the hardwood, and it was playing basketball, where he made a living helping lead the New York Knicks to the NBA Finals on two occasions.
Ward recently signed on to coach a high school team in Houston, Texas, but that doesn't stop him from coaching his local pals at Thomasville, Georgia.
