There were tires headed into the stands and another race to the checkered flag for Jeff Gordon, but overall, the big story has to be the first win of the season for Denny Hamlin. The number 11 machine is enjoying a sensational summer that would be getting a whole lot more attention if it weren't for the domination by the Hendrick drivers, and Dale Junior stealing some headlines a few weeks back.

Of the 17 races, Hamlin has finished in the top 10 on 11 occasions, and has had a solid hold on the number 2 spot in the rankings, but for the first time all season, he grabs the victory, and it was well worth the wait.

"We knew it was going to happen eventually... we're being competitive every week.... with a couple lucky breaks here and there, we can win a lot of races," says the proud winner.
