SAN DIEGO (AP) _ The San Diego Padres beat the Atlanta Braves
8-to-5 behind home runs by Mike Cameron and Khalil Greene. The N-L
West-leading Padres snapped a four-game losing streak to the
Padres starter David Wells was ejected in the fourth inning for
arguing with home plate umpire Ed Hickox after allowing Jeff
Francoeur's two-run homer.
Heath Bell picked up the win in relief for the Padres. He's
3-and-2. Trevor Hoffman pitched a perfect ninth for his 25th save
in 27 chances and the 507th of his career.
San Diego rallied with three runs in the seventh. After losing
pitcher Tyler Yates loaded the bases on a double and two walks with
one out, Greene drove in the go-ahead run with a grounder. Second
baseman Yunel Escobar was charged with an error for his off-line
throw to shortstop Edgar Renteria, which allowed newly acquired
Milton Bradley to slide in safely.
Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a two-run single to left one pitch after
fouling a ball off his left foot. He drove in three runs overall.
